Welcome to Barwell & Hollycroft Medical Centres
Barwell & Hollycroft Medical Centre was established in 2011 with the merger of 2 practices. We are committed to providing our patients with quality care across our 2 sites on Jersey Way in Barwell & Clifton Way in Hinckley.
Our website is used to present our patients with up to date news and information about our practice. We will keep it current with any developments or other details that we feel are relevant.
You may be aware that from April 2015 all practices are required to provide all their patients with a named GP who will have primary responsibility for the care and support our surgery provides to them.
In this practice is it usually your registered GP. This DOES NOT prevent you from seeing any doctor or your preferred GP in the practice as you currently do. If you would like to know the name of your named GP please ask Reception.
Do I Need To See A Doctor?
The Hollycroft Medical Centre now offers appointments with an Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. An Emergency Care Practitioner generally comes from a background in Paramedicine and have additional qualifications. For more information on our new ECP and information on what conditions he can treat please click on the link below.

Extended Access appointments - Updated 27th September 2018
We are increasing the number of appointments available for you to see a GP in the early mornings, evenings or at weekends across West Leicestershire. Depending on your individual circumstances and symptoms, we may offer you an ‘extended access’ appointment. Please note however, that these appointments will not be in your usual GP practice and may not be with one of your usual GPs or nurses.
Depending on the reason for your appointment, and if you are in agreement, it may be suitable for you to see an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, instead of a GP. The clinician you see will be able to access relevant sections of your medical notes and will communicate what has happened during your appointment back to your usual GP practice.
These appointments will be available at the following locations:
Loughborough Urgent Care Centre at Loughborough Community Hospital
Coalville Community Hospital
Hinckley and Bosworth Community Hospital
If you would like to know more please speak to a member of practice staff.

LATE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT?
A common reason for GP’s running late is that some patients do not attend on time. Please note, you may not be seen if you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment. If you are late for your appointment you may have to wait until the end of surgery. This is to ensure we run our appointments on time.
POLICY FOR FAILURE TO ATTEND
The first time a patient fails to attend a booked appointment, we will send them a DNA (did not attend) letter reminding them that in future they must cancel appointments if they are unable to attend.
After three failures to attend letters we will consider advising you to register with another surgery.
To avoid being sent a DNA letter, please ensure that you cancel your appointment a minimum of 24 hours before the appointment time. Anything cancelled after this time will count as a DNA.
MISSED APPOINTMENTS FOR 2018
Total appointments missed: 356
Missed GP appointments: 134
Missed Nurses appointments: 78
The average number of missed appointments per month for 2018 is: 268
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please make every effort to cancel it well in advance so that it may be offered to someone else. Non-attendance and cancellations at short notice deprives other patients of essential medical services.
